As promised, here is a photo of the entire quilt, Songs of Africa. It is entirely hand appliqued and embellished with embroidery and a few beads.
This is a closer view of one of the blocks and you can see some of the quilting. It was quilted by Jane Coons, a well-known longarm quilter in the St. Louis area.
This is a fun quilt! What an interesting mix of blocks. Is the zebra broderie perse? Lots to see!
ReplyDeleteNo broderie perse, just a considered use of a zebra striped fabric. I loved making this quilt so much that I really dragged it out. And then I had to tackle the swagged border and it was kind of a mess. The top got put in the time out box until I wasn't mad at it any more. Fast forward three years and I felt maybe it could be dealt with. Two other old applique projects are also in the time out box. One is a Piece O' Cake pattern (now out of print) based on botanical prints, another is a project with Morris blocks. Probably will pull one out after our quilt show in March and try to make some headway.
Deletea wonderful quilt so vibrant the blocks are all interesting. Good to read you are dealing with your UFO`s
