Introducing Beulah, a 1950 model 66 Singer. I found her for sale on craigslist and today my husband and I went to take a look. She came home with us and sews up a storm. She was formerly owned by the seller's mother-in-law, Beulah, a Swede from Minnesota who married a Norwegian! So, Beulah she is. The original Beulah is 92 years old and in ailing health. I wish her well and hope that she is happy that her machine has found a new home.
Beautiful. And look at all that space around the needle! Positively roomy.
ReplyDeleteMy machine is back at the shop today, because the repair man messed with something that wasn't broken. SUPER annoying! But hopefully it will be sorted soon.
Oh, don't you just hate that? I finally found a really good Pfaff sewing machine guy, but last time I didn't take my machine to him because he's an hour away. That was a mistake. My husband and I will be taking my machine to him on Friday as the other place I took my machine did not do a good job. The timing is off - just plain aggravating!
DeleteI was expecting it to be a treadle it being so old but see it is electric.Happy sewing
ReplyDeleteI have a machine older than this one that is also electric - a Singer 1941 Featherweight. These old Singers make the most beautiful straight stitch!
DeleteBeautiful machine, Mary Ellen. The old lady certainly took good care of her machine, knowing that it would outlive her and that someone else would appreciate it one day.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Muv
