The boy's baby quilt is finished - more or less. It is bound and labeled, but I need to touch up a bit of the quilting. See the little dot in the upper right hand corner? That's a flower pin and marks the place where the thread apparently broke leaving a small gap in the quilting.
Happy Mother's Day to all!
a great and colourful quilt and I am feeling good as I can recognise the blocks you have done, at least I think they are bow tie and pinwheel, I am slowly learning!
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly so. Pinwheels and bowties they are.
DeleteThere are so many things I like about this quilt: the applique boats, the plaid strips framing the pinwheel/bowtie panels, your colorful fabric choices--well done!
ReplyDeleteThose plaid strips add a lot, but they are a bit of a bear to work with. The plaid is woven in, not printed on, and the fabric is more loosely woven than other quilting cotton. I have found this to be more or less true of all woven cottons I have worked with. This is a Karen DuMont pattern that was printed in a "Scrap Quilts" edition of one of the major quilt magazines. When I can lay my hands on the magazine, I will give a better reference.
DeleteHello Mary Ellen,
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little quilt! I love the rickrack waves.
Love,
