Another Passion

My piano came home yesterday after an absence from my life of 40 years. It sounds lovely but will need another tuning soon. The piano repair place gave me a coupon for a reduced price for the first tuning. I played it some yesterday but it was so cold from being on the delivery truck all day that it was like playing on top of a block of ice. It has come up to ambient temperature overnight and should sound even better today. The top will have to be down unless in use as I found my little female cat, Jade, attempting to play on the strings last night.

  1. Oooooooooooo! What a beautiful piano! I would love to hear you play sometime! 40 years is a LONG time!

    1. This was my grandfather's piano. He was the organist at the Old Cathedral (the smaller one just south of the Arch). He also taught at Lindenwood College. The piano was in our house growing up and I played it until moving to California in the early 1970s. I have always had a piano in the house (now I have two!), just not this one. It feels so right to have it with me again.

  4. Beautiful! I'd love to hear you play it. Nothing beats a Christmas with family and friends together singing carols to live piano playing. Merry Christmas!

  5. It must be wonderful to play again, although I imagine it will need tuning almost immediately after all those temperature changes! I would love to have a piano again too. Looks fun!
