All Together

Here are the folded log cabin blocks all together so far. I see there needs to be some serious editing. For some reason, a few of the blocks I made way back when have dark center squares instead of gold/yellow. Some look really muddy and blur the pattern made by the strips. No sweat, though, as these are so much fun to do. It's a good excuse to make more.

  1. Gosh, that's interesting, isn't it? I swear that blogging is the best design tool. That red one 4th down on the left was my favourite close up, but it just dies in the mix, doesn't it? I wonder if you surrounded the dull part with brighter blocks maybe it would hold it's own better?

How big are the blocks? I think it will be a really gorgeous hanging when it's done. Very rich!

    1. The blocks are 7"; 6.5" finished. I have taken out one block, rearranged them, and made another. It looks better already. I am pleasantly surprised at how well blogging works for a variety of reasons. Design is one and archiving is another.

    1. There are two variations of the block used here - the traditional log cabin and courthouse steps. There is another I have seen, where the block is worked from a corner out. I have not used that. The variety here is provided by changing up the colors of the logs as you build the block.
