East Quilts West

For several years I have participated in the East Quilts West workshop held at my local quilt shop, Quilted Fox (www.quiltedfox.com). The class is led by the shop's owner, Louise Georgia. The blocks are based on the ones in Kumiko Sudo's book, "East Quilts West." Although the book is now out of print, copies can usually be found at online merchants that sell books. This is the block we are working on this month, Hinamatsuri or Girl's Festival.

  1. This is a really nice pattern. It's always so hard to know what to do with those Asian fabrics. Mine just sit there.

  2. I don't have a huge amount of Asian fabrics. When I started this workshop, I bought fabrics each month to make the block. But what looked good in the store often turned out to be not so great choices in the actual construction of the blocks. I now usually make the blocks from my stash.
